Cat and Dog Health: Dirofilaria immitis/Dirofilaria repens Nucleic Acid Test Card Heartworm/Dirofilaria repens Nucleic Acid Test Card
Heartworms and microfilaria are parasitic roundworms transmitted by mosquitoes. When a mosquito sucks blood from an infected "furry kid", the larval filarial worms will enter the mosquito's body with the blood and transmit the infectious embryonic worms to other cats and dogs during the next blood-sucking process. When the embryonic worms grow into adults, they will invade the heart and other major blood vessels of the "furry child", causing symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, and reduced mobility. If not treated promptly, the adult worms will continue to multiply, affecting the normal functioning of the heart, leading to serious consequences such as heart failure or even death.
